• A new podcast about a new world

Plain-language conversations, on demand, about the leading energy solutions to climate change.

  • A Three-Part Recipe For a Prosperous Future

To keep climate change in check, energy experts urge governments, investors, and businesses to prioritize three broad actions:

    1. ERASE ENERGY WASTE

We need to dramatically increase the energy efficiency of our buildings, vehicles, appliances, factories, lighting, and heating. At the moment, 68 percent of global energy use is not regulated by mandatory efficiency standards. That needs to change.

    2. CLEAN THE GRID

In the United States, power companies generate electricity in part by burning coal and natural gas. We need to replace these coal and gas power plants with new ones that produce electricity without generating greenhouse gas emissions. We also need to boost our overall capacity to generate this clean electricity.

    3. ELECTRIFY EVERYTHING*

We need to stop powering and heating our homes, offices, cars, trucks, buses, and factories with fossil fuels. If it can be electrified, it should be electrified.

  • * Everything that can be electrified must be electrified. We will not be able to electrify aviation, so we’ll need to pursue other options. Heavy freight is tricky. Ocean-going cargo ships? Nobody has really figured that one out yet, either. We’ll tackle this issue in an upcoming episode!
